Island Rock Gym uploaded a new video.
Maybe some of you have seen the video circulating of a v3 in Fontainebleu which is tiny but mighty; here's IRG's own Andy Shoemaker showing "Le Crocodile" who's boss!
Have you noticed new labels on some of our rope routes? We're migrating to a simpler system of -/+ instead of a/b/c/d for grading. Why? We fall on the side of the argument that grading indoor routes is somewhat arbitrary, varies from gym to gym, and is prone to bickering about the accuracy of the grades. In some parts of the country, -/+ grading is very common; the way we are applying the system, a 'minus' will represent an a/b grade, a 'plus' will represent a c/d grade. So if you see a route labeled 5.10+, we feel it falls in the range of 10c or 10d. Ask our staff if you have any questions!
Congrats to the Team IRG kids, sending 11 climbers to USAC Regional Championships today in Vancouver, WA. It can be intimidating for first time competitors, and we're super proud of everyone who showed up to crush. Good luck to Zoe and Emma at Divisional Championships in Bend, OR next month!
