About IRG:

At Island Rock Gym, our passion is supporting the climbing community and continuing to grow the sport we love. We’re also a values-driven business that is passionate about operating in a sustainable way for our community and our planet. To that end, we’re proud to support the following initiatives:

Charitable Fundraising
We are proud supporters of the Access Fund, the American Safe Climbing Association (ASCA), Big City Mountaineers, and the Washington Climber’s Coalition.

Supporting Local Businesses
We are a locally owned business who believes in supporting and strengthening local economies. We are a proud member of the Sustainable Business Network, a membership-based network of locally-owned businesses, organizations, and engaged citizens, dedicated to strengthening our local economy through education, networking, marketing, and the promotion of business practices and policies that are socially, environmentally and economically responsible.

Sustainable Building
When IRG was built, we worked hard to utilize reclaimed materials in the creation of the gym interior. Much of the 20,000 lbs. of steel supporting the climbing walls was reclaimed, as well as a percentage of the climbing holds. We were also able to re-purpose the materials that were removed in the demolition stage and use them to build the gym’s office and dressing rooms.
